Me and 5 friends went walking and decided to call in the Tollemache Public house.We were greeted by a miserable old man behind the bar who looked to have all the joys of death. He said grumpily'Have you walked down the canal?' We said 'yes'.At which point the Ogre point blank refused us entry stating we had muddy shoes.We had not, we had cleaned our footwear.When leaving I noticed that there was not one customer in the pub.Obviously the mans charm and charisma is well known.
I used to live across the canal from this place. Gorgeous old pub with beautiful beer garden. visited multiple times, and every time was greeted by an angry old man who was either too busy smoking behind the bar to notice me or just too rude to bother looking in my direction. Drinks also hugely overpriced. On one occasion the elderly bartender actually stood in the doorway entrance of the pub, and blew cigarette smoke in my and my friends faces as we attempted to enter. Honestly if it wasn't for that rude individual I would give this place 4 stars, only docking 1 for the high prices. But since he was always there, it made what would have been my local not worth visiting for the 8 months I lived nearby.
